Joshua Sprinks is a fantasy author born and raised in Gauting, near Munich, and later educated in Britain. Now writing from Sardinia, he creates stories about ordinary people carrying extraordinary weight, exploring quiet courage, recovery, belonging and found family. He is the author of the Elendor novel The Founder’s Sigil and its companion novella, The Eight.

Joshua Sprinks is a fantasy author born and raised in Gauting, near Munich. Growing up in an English-speaking household while attending international and European schools gave him an early awareness of what it means to belong somewhere without always feeling entirely at home. He discovered writing at eight, when a teacher encouraged him to turn his imagination into a story about a mouse who was also a knight.

After moving to Suffolk and attending Summerhill, his love of fiction developed into a lasting way of understanding difficult experiences through imagined worlds. His stories follow ordinary people placed under extraordinary pressure and explore trauma, recovery, identity, quiet courage and found family.

Sprinks now writes from Sardinia. He is the author of the Elendor novel The Founder’s Sigil and its companion novella, The Eight, and is currently writing the next novel in the series.

Joshua Sprinks is a fantasy author born and raised in Gauting, near Munich. Growing up in an English-speaking household while attending international and European schools gave him an early awareness of what it means to belong somewhere without always feeling entirely at home—a tension that would later become central to his fiction.

He discovered writing at eight years old when a teacher recognised his imagination and encouraged him to write a children’s story about a mouse who was also a knight. What began as a classroom exercise became a lifelong way of understanding difficult experiences. For Sprinks, imagined worlds were never simply an escape from reality; they offered a different lens through which reality could be examined.

He later moved to Suffolk, England, where he attended Summerhill. Its unusual environment and rural setting gave his imagination room to develop, deepening his interest in fiction and the emotional possibilities of fantasy.

After working in a wide range of roles and eventually returning to Germany, Sprinks began writing The Founder’s Sigil. Completing the novel changed his understanding of what writing could become: not merely something fitted around the edges of his life, but the foundation of the life he wanted to build. He subsequently moved to Sardinia to dedicate more of his time to writing.

His fictional world, Elendor, developed over several years and draws upon experiences from throughout his life. His stories reject the idea of heroism for its own sake. Instead, they follow ordinary people placed under extraordinary pressure—people who may never have sought responsibility, but whose choices reveal who they are to those around them.

Sprinks’s work explores trauma, recovery, quiet courage, identity, found family and the difficult work of learning to belong. He aims to make his worlds vivid and sensory while keeping their emotional lives recognisably human.

He is the author of the Elendor novel The Founder’s Sigil and its companion novella, The Eight. He is currently writing the next novel in the series and intends to continue exploring Elendor before eventually turning his imagination towards new worlds.
